KEEPIN’ IT REEL – EJ Jackson, Media Director

Keepin’ It Reel is Oxnard PAL’s youth multimedia program where youth can learn the fine art of video production and editing. Participants help produce various city-related projects such as event promotional videos and public service announcements (PSAs). In addition, as part of the program, members discuss the challenges, pressures, and situations they are exposed to as middle and high school students. They then use these discussions to generate topic ideas, storylines, and ultimately written scripts for short films. Completed projects are them viewed within a teen forum and discussions are facilitated by the program participants.

Learned skills include: camera operations, acting, scriptwriting, lighting, props, set decorating, directing, and audio and visual editing.

Available at Oxnard PAL to youth between the ages of 12 and 17 (18 year-old if still attending high school.)
